So ladies an gentlemen, You gave a noob a forum, here we go. I have two options on my up and coming build, most of the parts are in so i am getting anxious and excited; My options are, Stay with the original CPU fan, not voiding the warranty, or using the after-market fan, voiding the 3-year warranty(or does it?). This being my first build it seems like my head is spinning, but a assure you, it is not. Options, opinions, o for heaven sakes i can't wait to play battlefield.

Currently I have to play on LOW for all settings and it takes me an extra minute or 2 to load into a new map. So I was thinking of updating my graphics card I have a GeForce GTX 560 Ti and was looking to get a GeForce GTX 760 Ti I have 2 sticks of 8GB RAM too.... maybe this is the issue and not the G card? Looking for advice on how to not suck I'm also looking to add another monitor Thanks for the advice and opinions Grover

Need a compact/portable rig
by Guest Aristo- 7 replies

I've played on this gaming laptop for a good couple years, including all through BF3 till now, since I've been away at college. Having a laptop I could lug around was a reasonable investment. However, it's filling up and just isn't up to the standard I'd like for BF4. I don't take it around much for my classes; it just sits on my desk, and so there's really no reason not to have a small desktop with better output instead. I want something that'll run smoothly, with minimal hiccups, but a case that's on the smaller side. Something easy to transport around. When I'm done next year, I can set it up wherever I end up and not have to worry about taking it back and forth. T…

So I want to get an actually PC instead of my crappy laptop. I don't know much about building one and I saw that LCpl Ruen posted on the forums about a site that has custom built computers already made. I went on that site and found a computer that fit my budget but I want to know if it's worth the money or if I could get a better deal for my money. The computer is at http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadvanquish.asp?id=886722

Help With My Build?

I wanted to build a brand new computer from scratch, the only thing I will carry over from my current PC is the disk drive. I am not so good with all the tech stuff, so I just put together all these parts I think i need for a working computer, and I got all the things I wanted, but I was hopping that someone could tell me if it is good, and if it is all compatible with one another. also, in your own opinion, do you think this build will last a long time? Building a new PC, know little about building
by Guest LeetSpork- 6 replies

I have about a $1300 budget. Main thing that I would want to do with the computer is play games like BF4, Arma 3 (obv not ultra), Skyrim (with lots and lots of texture mods) If anyone could help me out with picking parts and guiding me through building it when I order that would be great. It won't be for a while since I still need to sell my laptop and PS3 first. Thanks!

I believe I need to update my cpu but not sure what I should update or if I should just build a new one. My computer runs everything pretty good but I think it should be better. My bf3 is slow now a days and I want to up my computer for bf4 so im thinking all I really need is memory and a new graphics card. Plus I really have no budget and don't mind putting more money down for a better computer but I think im just better off upgrading this one can anyone guide me in the right direction?

Computer is Crashing

Ok so as many of you know I recently got back into the clan after a MIA due to a faulty PSU that literally caught on fire and fried my old build. I upgraded to a i5 3570 8 gb ddr3 1333 windows 7 x64 pro I am using the stock fan on the CPU, stock fan on the PSU, and built in fan on the GPU, I have yet to install the box fan. With my HD 5770 1GB-128 bit GPU i get anywhere from 70 FPS-100 FPS (high to low settings) Every now and then at random yet somewhat long periods of time (30 minutes plus) my computer will restart on its own. But only during gameplay of BF3 which I'm sure is when the power boost kicks my 3.4Ghz up to 3.8Ghz. Would it be safe to assume…

PCI-e SATA III + USB 3 Controller?
by Guest Ret.Maj.Xander=US=- 1 reply

Little back story. My current rig for the most part was built in 2009. I was an early adopter to the Core i7 when it first came out. I still have the same CPU and Mobo from that purchase and they both work perfectly. However my board is limited by SATA II and USB 2.0 speeds. This is my board here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131386 I came across this pretty sweet ASUS SATA III controller, and my mobo is one of the ones this supports. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Accessories/U3S6/ http://www.amazon.com/Asus-U3S6-True-Support-Motherboard/dp/B002VVQ58M Doing my research I found out that the PCI-e x4 cards give you the full SATA III ou…

so, in light of having to reformat my computer due to viruses (too many visits to the nasty underbelly of the interwebs) Ive decided to make a completely new gaming rig. I've technically have had this rig since 2004 >.< The case is an old HP Media Center pc 854n and the power supply that came with it. I "upgraded" to this from an old Dell Media Center case ha ha (cries inside). BIOSTAR G31D-M7 LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. It supports up to a core 2 duo, 4gb of ram, and 1 graphics card. Intel Celeron E3300 Wolfdale 2.5GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor. It only has 1MB of L2 Cache but I was able to OC it up to 3.0GHz with the stock heat sink and fan. Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card I have this auto-tuned to: High Performance GPU clock setti…

I need a versatile laptop that can keep up with my crazy expectations so I can use it on long plane rides and deployments on a ship. So I basically need it to have these characteristics -Portable(both in size/battery life) No Larger than 15"/Able to play music and movies for a couple hours. -Powerful enough to play games at medium at least. -Drive space large enough for stuff like a DAW, Photoshop, Rosetta Stone.(will have most of my media on separate externals) I have seen one that can probably handle all this and its the ASUS Zenbook UX32VD And I would plan on extending the memory with a CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB(with mobo integrated 2GB 1333) I hear that changes i…
