so, in light of having to reformat my computer due to viruses (too many visits to the nasty underbelly of the interwebs) Ive decided to make a completely new gaming rig. Through countless hours of research ive made up my mind on the following:

CPU:i5 3570k LGA 1155 http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0388577 (will be O.Cing to at least 4.0GHz)

Mobo: ASrock Z77 Extreme6 LGA 1155 http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0395374

(both from micro center for the $50 towards the mobo with the purchase of the CPU)

PSU: Corsair HX750 gold certified http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010&Tpk=hx750%20%28cmpsu-750hx%29

RAM:CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 low profile http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233186

(both bought as a bundle)

SSD: Samsung 830 SATA III 128BG http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147163

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533

Case: havent made up my mind of that yet, going to go shopping for one later this week

graphics card: Gigabyte radeon HD 6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125357&Tpk=gigabyte%206870 (might get another one to run in crossfire if budget allows, but for now thats bottom of my priority list)

Im always open to suggestions and thoughts. I plan on getting it all done by the end of the month, so I will keep you posted

we have similar computers! same mobo/processor (and they rock!).. same harddrive. however, i recommend you get a better video card. in my opinion the HD 7870 or the 7850 would be a better choice. i use the HD Radeon 7850 OC edition (Sapphire built) and I can run BF3 on mostly all Ultra settings at 1600x1200 and never dip below 60 frames.. Let me know if you need help finding any parts brother!

that is the plan for the future, but at the time being, im trying to get the core of the components out of the way before i get a new card since i have one that does all i ask for now. my real question is, would running two 6870 in crossfire be better (graphically) than one 7850?

like the rig but i strongly dislike the RAM choice ive had corsair kingston and GSkill and by far the Gskill is so much better my Corsair ram died on me=(...But yeah go to Newegg and get u some Gskill best ram on the market...Crucial is good too

yeah i have GSkill Ripjaws and they are awesome RAM imho.. I'm not a big fan of Corsair anything. I would recommend a Seasonic PSU instead of the Corsair as well, but that's just me.

Also, the 2 6870's would definitely be better than 1 7850, but I don't really recommend Crossfiring, I would get one GOOD GPU!

I know you said you already have one and are trying to build the core components first, but I will let you know that your 6870 will be your bottleneck, for your rig.

I will look into that about the psu and ram. thanks for the heads up guys :)

oh, and ive also decided on a case: Rosewill Thor V2 full tower. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147158

it might not be a corsair or antec, but its well made and cheaper (plus its HUGE). Ive also decided to throw in a corsair H60 CPU cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181015

if you want to spend less on an Antec case, I can show you the case that I bought for myself bro! I only spent $50 at the time and its a midsize ATX case.. This way you could spend more on your GPU or other extras. I'll link the RAM/PSU/CASE!

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095 (it's SLI/XFire ready, if you want to go that route)

CASE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129066 (Antec 300 Illusion, one of the best cases ever made for $70)

HEATSINK: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 (This is the one I've seen recommended from EVERYONE and it's only $20!!!)
