Guest RocketRepo
I plan on making a new gaming rig, not sure when but when i do i wanna be ready. With that said anyone have any ideas on whats good? I'm kinda in the mood of making an intel/nvidia build but I'm open to amd/ati builds as well (because of the price)
Guest Ddress
The real question SrA. is how much do you have to spend......then you can go from there.

Guest FallenAfar
The no brainer on the following page:- http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx You will just need a graphics card to go with it and then to pay for shipping :) However I am sure you can find an equivalent :) To bring down your costs dont go prebuilt, build yourself :)
Guest RocketRepo
well judging by some of the research i did last night somewhere between 500 and 700 bucks sounds fine
Guest Aristo
Should check out these links for some ideas. Do be aware that at that amount, your PC's going to be considered a budget rig, and so won't be as high-end. Stick with the minimum for what you need at first, and look at higher-end parts if your total leaves room after you get a list put together. http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1278069-Challenge-Build-a-budget-gaming-pc-including-monitor-for-500-dollars http://www.gamersnexus.net/pc-builds/46-pcbuildupg/999-mid-range-budget-gaming-pc-2013 http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1623688/march-2013-500-canadian-budget-gaming-rig.html http://www.destiny.gg/n/700-gaming-rig/
Guest RocketRepo
Oh trust me i enjoy budget rigs, how you think mine came to be Lol but yea i wanted to get a decent intel processor since i've been riding the amd bandwagon for a while and would like to see something new working for me. i was thinking about getting a mobo ram and processor at first then getting the rest later or i might go with a pre-built rig. I used http://www.cyberpowerpc.com and came out with a intel rig with no vid card for about $538 so i know it can be done Lol.
Guest soco
Do not get a pre-built. The difference in a properly configured pre-built and yourself is difference between a bad graphics card and a top of line (i.e. $150). Usually they don't optimize it for gaming too. By the way this was the first rig I built myself so anyone can do this. I did a lot of research in order to optimize everything. This is how you get a high-end machine that other people pay $1000 for only $640: Mobo + processor: Get the i5 processor + ATX motherboard from Microcenter (i5 is max, i7 have 0 benefit for gaming) = $250 Get a cheap hard drive that's 7200 rpm (or reuse what you have, nice hd have 0 benefit for gaming): $20/free (SSD are nice but this is about gaming baby, pump this money into video card) Get optical drive off of ebay or steal one from old computer: $10/free (do we even use CD-ROM drives anymore) Get $20 ATX case (get a big case for good airflow + good expansion ability) Get $20 CPU cooler for overclocking (definitely worth it) Get $50 power supply >=500W (the video card I'm recommending later ends up having low power reqs) Get $50 RAM (i.e. 8gb) [i ended up going 16gb for $100 but that is unnecessary] Should be around $380-400 now. Then get the ATI HD7950 Sapphire for $290 w/ bonus pack including Crysis 3 + Bioshock + $20 MIR. Then sell Crysis 3 + Bioshock cd keys on ebay for $60 easy Total = $640 for a 120 fps BF3 1920x1080 ULTRA overclockable gaming rig. Now at this point your _ONLY_ upgrade path is either IPS hi-res monitor ($400) or secondary graphics card for cross-fire mode ($220). If you have extra $100 put it in the stock market until you get $220 for extra graphics card. That's roughly how I did my machine, I went the monitor upgrade path with a Korean Crossover IPS 27" (i.e. same display as $1000 Apple Cinema) for $400 2560x1440 resolution. Mine: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/H28D (prices are about $150 high due to pricematching, combo deals etc.) I think most people get screwed by not finding the cheap motherboard+processor deals and overbuying on hard drives, RAM, and processors (which give you 0!!!!!! performance improvement). You need to pump as much $ as possible into your video card.
Guest Redheart
The only thing I can mention here is for gaming, you would do best to stick with AMD. I know that this is all just personal preference and to each their own but the intel is really more for multitasking and running multiple business applications where the AMD is more for running one main application with a few lesser in the background. But I also understand that the Intel will have 1 or 2 advanced chips out there then AMD as that is just how it normally is, for some reason AMD tends to stay behind Intel on the development.
