Im really new to Gaming Computers. Right now (as some of you may know) I have a Dell Inspirion 520 with a Intel Core 2 duo processor and 2 gigs of ram. I bought it in 2007 for a Family PC. I'm looking to buy a gaming PC though. Not a Alienware on XPS but I want to build my own like most of you on here. I know very little on this so I was wondering if some of you could make some suggestions. I was thinking of going with the i5-2500k because I heard good things. As for the mobo or anything els like that idk what to buy. I have a budget of about $1300 USD, and this is to build a new computer not add to excisting one. Any help would be nice. And also i'm happy to be a new…

Comp build help

Ok guys, so now that we are moved in and things are settling down, I should be back soon. The next important piece of business here at home is a new Comp that can handle BF3 :) Here's the catch I have never built one, and comp knowledge isn't my forte (I know, I can perform surgery on people's nerves/faces yet building a comp..not so much haha). That being said, i am looking for a build that will last me a bit, as room to be upgraded if needed but not kill my budget. Thoughts?

Nice cheap Ivy PCI 3.0 gen Mobo from ASRock

Hey guys, Was looking around and noticed this board popping up in the stores. ASRock Extreme 3 GEN 3 Compared to Asus, Gigabyte and MSI you would save quiet some money, this board does have fewer USB ports and no onboard USB 3.0 header. But does have SLI and CF support, there is also more expensive versions ofc. Plus it looks really good. I have been told its a nice board if you are not sure just do some research. And dont forget its PCI-E 3.0 and Ivy bridge ready. For my situation I dont need more then 3 USB ports, and dont have any USB 3.0 devices atm and really whats the big problem of just plugging something in the back of your PC ? Anyway just wanted t…

560Ti untill GTX 6xx?
by Guest Doubleome- 18 replies

Hey guys, Found some interesting info about the upcomming 28nm GPUs from AMD and Nvidia. The approx 380 USD AMD GPU will outpreform the current 6970 by 100% and be slightly better than SLI 6970. Imo this looks like 28nm is a big deal cant even wait to see how insane the Nvidia GPUs will preform. Here is my problem I was gonna get the GTX 580, but what I can tell is that the 28nm will smoke the current 40nm. Even bigger problem is that the Nvidia 28nm will release Q1-Q2 2012 and AMD will be October to December which in case of Nvidia will be well after BF3 release. So here is what I was thinking get a cheaper GTX 560Ti to last BF3 for a few months and then try …

SSD someone needs to talk me into buying one
by Guest Doubleome- 15 replies
- 4.6k views
Hey guys, Building a new machine for BF3 it will be roughly 1800 dollars. Now my problem is, I have never had an SSD people say its awesome but is it really worth spending about 150 dollars on 60 GB 525/450 read/write for just starting up windows and having maybe one game installed ? Im looking at a agility 3 Ocz 60gb atm. You start up your pc at the start of the day so you gain about 30 seconds each day ? time I currently spend getting a drink while my PC starts up. Imo unless you dont care about the money its not worth getting an SSD. Dont get me wrong I would love to have one but it will only add more and more to the price of the machine. SSD's do last 228…
