So it has come time to upgrade my computer! Below I have listed what parts I have no and the parts that are going to be used in the new build:

Intel Core2Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4 ghz quad core (overclocked to 3.0 GHz and running at 72F)

Upgrading to:

Intel Core i5 2500K or i7 2600K

4 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 Dual channel memory

Upgrading to:

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory

MSI P6N SLI PLATINUM Motherboard

Upgrading to:

MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3)

I am keeping my current case, power supply, SSD, HDD, and will be looking to purchase this CD/DVD/BR Super Multi Drive to replace my current one due to ejecting issues. I will also be re-using my MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin-FROZR-II/OC

The only thing I am worried about is if I upgrade now, and in a month Ivy Bridge comes out and prices drop and I will be super ****ed. I believe this system should run amazing but go ahead and give me your thoughts! I am selling my motherboard, cpu, and memory for $250 so it shouldn't cost much more than like $375 for everything to upgrade this beast.

Your ram will downclock to 1600 because of a memory limitation with the Sandy Bridge chipset. I believe there may be a way around it now with a bios setting on certain motherboards. I'd go for the i5 2500K, the $ Per Mhz increases drastically for negligible performance gain with the i7 2700K.

Thanks ThievingSix I am now waiting to see when the i5 2550 comes out. Pretty much ups the clock +100 mhz, as well as raised the TurboBoost +100 mhz and removes the built-in GPU which may drop the temps a few degrees.

Did you not see the ram I am getting is 2133 MHz? The ones you linked are 1600 MHz at MAX this ram may barely push 1800 mhz with less aggressive CAS Latency. By getting these my computer would bottleneck due to the degraded performance.

RAM: Personally I would go with http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3V4G3D-US/dp/B00592002W because you can overclock them like nutz.

I am waiting for Ivy bridge before I upgrade.

Yes I did. Most ram can be overclocked to some degree, some more so than others. You can get some nice speeds with better timing than what you are suggesting at the same area of volts if you look at the ram closer. http://www.overclock.net/t/1210482/amazon-samsung-2x4gb-low-voltage-ddr3-1600-kit-for-40-ocing-to-2200

Not to mention low profile for larger CPU coolers.

10-10-10-28 1T DDR3 2133 @ 1.5v

9-10-10-28 1T DDR3 2133 @ 1.6v

So I found the best deal at Micro Center!

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k $279.99

Motherboard: MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) for $100.00 after rebate

As I was shopping for memory I saw a new contender. One that can fit under most massive CPU heatsink/fans

Memory: G.Skill Ares DDR-3 17000 (2133 mhz)

I will leave this stock just because it is already super damn fast. I got everything including a new optical drive for $510.00!

Nice. I like the look of the ram. Did you modify the timings to see if you could get it a bit tighter?

Pushed it to cas latency @9-9-9-18
