Guest Toby5 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Im really new to Gaming Computers. Right now (as some of you may know) I have a Dell Inspirion 520 with a Intel Core 2 duo processor and 2 gigs of ram. I bought it in 2007 for a Family PC. I'm looking to buy a gaming PC though. Not a Alienware on XPS but I want to build my own like most of you on here. I know very little on this so I was wondering if some of you could make some suggestions. I was thinking of going with the i5-2500k because I heard good things. As for the mobo or anything els like that idk what to buy. I have a budget of about $1300 USD, and this is to build a new computer not add to excisting one. Any help would be nice. And also i'm happy to be a new recruit in the clan!
Guest RET.Maj.SKI=US= Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Everyone has their own preferences, but I believe I would recommend you read the following thread: http://clanunknownsoldiers.com/barracks/showthread.php?16647-Comp-build-help. Sgt.Pollvx recommended a setup for the Major General, so I think it might met your needs. You can upgrade some components since you are willing to spend a little more money.
Guest SudzMcDuff Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I would suggest building/getting someone to build you one. Those computers you can buy at best buy or other big box stores usually have mediocre hardware inside and overcharge you for it. The only problem with picking parts out individually is that you need to make sure everything is compatible. For this you can check the forums on the online stores you use. I use NCIX.com and they have great info on their forums and reviews. To give you an example of what you can get for a $1300 price tag, in June i built the following gaming/work rig for $1200 CANADIAN FUNDS! Cooler Master HAF 932 Black Edition Case OCZ Z-Series 1000W 24pin ATX Power Supply Corsair A70 Heatsink Intel Core i7 2600k Sandy Bridge CPU ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Motherboard 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 Dual Channel Ram Western Digital 1TB Sata 6GBps Caviar Blue Hard Drive As you can see the only think i haven't purchased yet is a video card. I would consider this a very solid build and I do not plan to upgrade for quite some time (other than maybe some more ram down the road). You can expect prices to have fallen a bit since then, and also you can purchase a smaller power supply and different case to bring the cost down so you can add in a video card. If you give me an idea of what you're looking for, I could give you some recommendations.
Guest Toby5 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I could really use some help really quick.
