My boss won 15k at the casino this weekend and wants to buy me a new graphics card. Should I go with a 1070 or 980 ti? I have a 550 or 600 power source with a i5 6600k.

1070 hands down! I use it and its a beast! Also I think your PSU is low for the older 980 ti

Thanks guys. He has a 750 power source laying around somewhere I might snag off him. He is the one who built my computer. All I had to buy was a board, ram, and processor. He gave me the 760 sc, cooler master case, mouse, keyboard, hard drives, fans, and everything else a while back. He has been blowing his casino winnings on all his favorite employees, bought one guy a new surround sound system and another a 50 inch 4k TV. I'm also getting bosses old 50" 4k tv.

And I'm getting XB1 with a bunch of games instead. He didn't want to waste the money on a 1070, gettin me a 1080 in Jan.

and just so everyone knows, I only make 600 a week. Not exactly a job to brag about, just got lucky and work directly for one of the owners so I get some special perks.

I would definitely go for the 1070. You shouldn't see any bottlenecking with that processor either.

See this document.

A 500W PSU theoretically should be enough as it's stated in the minimum specs (CLICKIE) but if you're running a bunch of devices requiring powered USB's (such as a Blackwidow lighted keyboard) you might want to think about getting something around 750. So snagging the one he has lying around can't hurt.

That's pretty darn cool of him! Grats.

Your PSU will run a 1070/1080 just fine.
