Guest RET.CPT.Hammerwolf53=US=
I'm looking at a few 27 inch 144hz refresh IPS monitor right now. These are expensive but meet the specs I've been waiting for. The size I like because well, it's bigger. I tend to have problems with 60hz monitors. (Have a 144hz TN panel right now). I do some Photoshop so I prefer the color representation of the IPS panel. Question: The monitors that have GSync only have a HDMI input. I was under the impression that you can only achieve 144hz through DVI. Has HDMI achieved that goal now?
Guest FuSioN207
there are some monitors that have g-sync will have display port such as mine. if you'll look here on this link, it will also include the cable as well. cheapest 144 hz g-sync on the market as I believe unfortunately it is only 24 inch but I personally think it's fantastichttps://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LBSZHAI/ref=s9_acsd_bw_wf_s_GAME_cdl_40?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-10&pf_rd_r=D3QJNDDGMTCQN96HS2PZ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=806282207&pf_rd_i=9320946031

I guessing that this is a TN panel though as it has a 1ms response time. The best I've seen for an IPS is 4ms. I believe that the latest HDMI only supports 120hz at 1080P

I don't know how much the industry has changed in the past few years, but it used to be that the way response time was measured was nonstandard so comparing across manufacturers can be difficult. Guest RET.Maj.ShadowOp=US=
I thnk we are all getting off topic and not answering the question at hand: Question: The monitors that have GSync only have a HDMI input. I was under the impression that you can only achieve 144hz through DVI. Has HDMI achieved that goal now? The answer is yes, if the monitor has a HDMI 2.0 port, using an HDMI 2.0 cable you can achieve the following: 2 x 1080p (up to 2x120 Hz) | 2K @ 1080p (up to 240 Hz) | QHD @ 1440p (up to 144 Hz) | 4k @ 2160p (up to 60 Hz) However HDMI doesn't support G-Sync, currently only display port cables support G-Sync. DP 1 works for 1080p up to 144Hz, DP 1.2 for 2k up to 144Hz Here is a link to a decently priced one on amazon: 6ft - https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-6ft-Connectors-PlayStation/dp/B00NQ9OQU2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1467232591&sr=1-1&keywords=4k+hdmi+cables 15ft - https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-15-Connector-PlayStation/dp/B00YNI7G8O/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1467232809&sr=1-2&keywords=4k+hdmi+cables If the monitor supports only HDMI 1.4 or less then it tops out at 120Hz at 1080p as you stated. You'll also need to verify your card supports HDMI 2.0.
Guest RET.Maj.ShadowOp=US=
AFter some extensive searching I've only been able to find Two monitors that meet your want list:144HzG-SyncIPS27" http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/UM.HB0AA.001https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG279Q/ Beware though, the reviews for both of these monitors aren't spectacular. The Asus seems to suffer from some quality control problems. The Acer model appears to be a better choice. I've been waiting a long time to have everything. A large screen, IPS panel, high refresh rate and fast response time. 4ms vs 1ms (not bad). I will probably wait a month or two and see if the prices drop and the quality problems improve. Also will probably get a 1080 card after the scalpers are finished so I can get a decent refresh rate on one of these monitors. Thx!
Guest RET.GEN.Darmine
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0173PEX20/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the one I had purchased a while ago. It has a DP port instead. I tried the Asus version of the link I posted and it went bonkers one week in (it was also a TN panel) it started to flicker and letters became more bold looking. So I returned and got this one. And yes it overclocks to 165hz and works like a dream.

Nice sir, looks like the updated model of the one I posted, for some reason Acer doesn't have it liste don their website. Hopefully that model took care of some of the Quality control issues that were present in the XB270HU
Guest RET.CPT.Hammerwolf53=US=
I agree with the General as well. I was surprised to see this model. The ratings are much better than the other two mentioned. I think I will wait a bit more until I do a new build. Got my eye on a I7-6850K and will flesh out the rest of the build around this processor. DDR4, X99 motherboard, etc... Probably in a month... Hopefully that model took care of some of the Quality control issues that were present in the XB270HU Well worth the money, light bleed is only seen when you have a full black screen. Plus you are looking at a large monitor so some bleed is expected. While playing a game you will see little to no bleed and the color reproduction is great on this monitor. It also has x2 USB 3.0 on the left side. I used to never give two craps about how WIN 10 puts a random picture on your lock screen before this monitor. But now when a new one comes up and it has awesome colors I am in aww and care all of the sudden. lol
