Not to be a doomsayer, but this has the potential to be a major disaster. It is not just for pigs, it has spread from pigs to humans, and even more alarming, it spreads from person to person with apparent ease. Also, it bears resemblance to the opening of the 1918 flu epidemic that killed anywhere from 20 million to 100 million people, more casualties than WWI which had just ended. It affects the young and healthy just as much as the old and infirm, and it has already spread from Mexico to CA, on to Europe, New Zealand and Turkey. (http://www.pigflumap.com/)Out of about 1000 cases so far, there have been about 80 deaths. Of course it could be nothing. All the hubbub about avian flu led to nothing. Uh, this probably didn't help much, did it?

If you look statistically there is normally a pandemic every 20 years or so, yeah it might get bad but what can we do? wait it out i guess. PS the uk is safe as, we have enough medication for half of the population, so happy days, altho it is in scotland, i just say reman hadrians wall :)

being that you are a male and all men are pigs, occording to women, we are all dead. Of course if you don't get it you still will die, so in the end we are all dead anyway. Time spent worrying is time wasted, so don't waste what time you have left.

I always liked the idea of that 25-100million ppl dead in 1920 compared to now i would think it would be more like several thousands maximum

they changed the name -- its now H1N1 because you cant actually get it from Pork, and people were beginning to stop purchasing pork. its not that deadly, only like the usual flu, and they said it responded well to antibiotics, plus only about 50 people in the U.S. have it. Mexico releases a statement every day about it, the death toll keeps going down, its because originally they announced the deaths per people who were admitted to the hospital, not to the people who were infected. trust me guys, we have bigger issues right now. like the economy, or Airforce one flying low over manhattan, so close that it past over where the twin towers use to be! We all know that there are only two places a plane can land in New York. JFK, and the Hudson river. :P

Globalization, we travel with such ease, anything can be transmitted easily, yes it does have the possiblity to be one nasty sob of a epedemic, but -- i think we should have it covered, i mean, we stopped sars, and the bird flu, the likes of which we originally had no idea how to stop, at least this we have a base DNA platform to work off of.
