Evening gents. Ill start off by getting a slightly embarrassing question out of the way; Could a moderator/admin change my username to Kilroy8? In all the excitement I must of put Kikroy & not realised

Anyway, on to my basic Information:

Name: Kane Kilroy

Nickname: Kilroy. (No Kikroys here :P)

Age: 17

Location: Leeds, England

Military Service: None thus far, however, I am in training to join the Royal Air Force, or failing that, the Corps of Royal Engineers.

Gaming Experience: Non professionally. But I do race competitively at TORA - TheOnlineRacingAssociation.com so I'm used to using forumy things

What I'm looking for: A well organised BF3 platoon who employ strategy & tactics to take victory on the Battlefield. It seems I've found the right place.

Now I'll level with you here, I don't actually own a gaming PC or the Battlefield 3 PC Version. I am in fact, one of those 'Xbox console kiddies'. However, I'm saving money for a gaming PC, and part of the reason for my sign up was to ask you guys for any recommendations. I'm a bit of a rookie when It comes to techy PC stuff :) Preferably a PC that's is good, reasonably future-proof, a good price (£800 max, is that around $1300?) I should have the funds available to purchase a gaming PC by early May at the latest.

Some BF3 Background info:

Desired Class (in order):

- Assault

- Engineer

- Support

- Recon

Favoured loadout:

L85A2

ACOG Scope (most common scope for slightly further away engagements)

Heavy Barrel.

Foregrip

G18 Supp.

Medic Kit/M320 (Whichever is required of me)

Defibrillator

SQD Ammo (Will use whichever is required of me)

Vehicles:

Best Vehicle: Su-35BM Flanker-E (979 Kills)

Best Vehicle Type: Jets (2100 Kills)

*Note these accomplishments are on the Xbox 360 Version of the game.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the Forums, I would recommend http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx

Usually the "No Brainer" - Now this will come in bits, then get yourself an nVidia or ATi/AMD card. If your a student you might be able to get a MS License key for Windows 7 from Dream spark ;)

I know you said you weren't technical but if you go on You tube there are some great tutorials on Building a PC, the fiddly part is the MotherBoard :) and the Heavy Lifting part is the Power supply, looks all very daunting but in 25 mins you can build a PC quiet easily :)

This is the tutorial I used :)

Hope it helps, failing that you can use over clockers :)

Hope to see you playing with us soon!

I would stick with Intel, because AMD will no longer make Processors. Go with a 1155 Socket processor and motherboard. DDR3 1600 is really all you need for ram(check motherboard QVL for compatible memory). If you go for a Intel Socket 2011 you will go way over that budget especially starting from scratch. Research everything you have in mind to buy.MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WORKS WITH EACH OTHER(All Parts must play nice in order for you to enjoy your first start up after your build.)

Basic comp parts list

Computer Case

Power Supply

CD Rom/ BD Rom

Motherboard

Memory

CPU

CPU cooler

Video Card

Sound Card(if you're an audio junkie)

Headset

Gaming Mouse/Keyboard

Monitor

Speaker

Hard Drive/ Solid State Drive

Operating System

Thanks for your suggestions & advice. A thorough search has led me to settle with this https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/results/

My question now is, Will this be able to comfortably run the average PC Game, such as BF3, on medium-high settings? Without the hassle of building it myself. £900 (By the way, I'm not looking for the best bargain, this will sound a bit douche-baggy,but I have a lot of money to burn at the minute).

If you can get a Solid State Drive for the OS it would be better.

Office 365 trial, just get rid of it (all bloat ware).

Your setup should do just fine on High settings, later you can run crossfire and up the setting to Extreme. Also you are going to hate the stock CPU cooler, if you don't like loud fans. I suggest getting a water cooled enclosed one. If you want to sorta future proof it I would go with a 750W-850W power supply.

What company are you going through to spec and build your PC? I noticed through the list that it's some sort of company that lets you spec your PC out and build it for you, I just don't know exactly which it could be.
