I listen to a lot of Iron Maiden and Manowar when gaming. Manowar is more metal than it is rock, but yeah... Hammerfall and Edguy are two bands which fall inbetween Maiden and Manowar stylistically. A lot of the European metal takes cues from bands like Maiden with hard, driving riffs and high vocals. I love the stuff.

edit: also, to answer your question Butcher, for playing, I like Scottus's workout mix.. I like really opposite sides of the spectrum.. Country (summer) and Hip-Hop and a little bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers sprinkled in. Basically anything that could be construed as angry (Eminem songs are perfect).
