Interesting.. this means I probably won't have time to hit Col 100... :p

 

Seriously though it's been well known for awhile that we're pushing more and more through the same size pipe and hitting restrictions left and right... look at how critical it was to get systems using IPv6 because of this same device/bandwidth boom.

 

What I DIDN'T know was that we're that close to running into prohibitive levels of bandwidth usage where it simply will not be possible to maintain current speeds or total data transfer rates, let alone increase the above.

 

Sounds like a decent size piece of this problem pie is yet again.. politics playing that age-old game of chess with merchants. If a merchant has something that's worth a lot, and a political body says they want some/all of it because the merchant isn't using it and it's "in the interest of the nation", what's the monetary incentive for the merchant to release it to the political body?

I mean why cant they just put up speed limits rather than usage limits? When is internet fast enough where everyone can agree on?
