You are guaranteed to have other bottlenecks before the PCIe bandwidth is an issue. Don't take my word for it... slightly older studies, not in the 5xx or 6xx Nvidia series, but still applies just the same since it's all still pushing through the same pipe. I suppose in theory you might start to see an FPS drop at high resolution with everything maxed, but given other bottlenecks, you can't run at those crazy high res with everything on max, so there's no practical cost to going 16x/8x. Even in testing it's hard to get a legit test run because you can't even play a game with a reasonable FPS at max settings+super high res because the GPU's bottleneck before the PCIe. Bottom line: if it's a $$ difference between 2 mobos to get 16x/16x, don't bother. If $$ is no issue... bragging rights?? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
