Guest h4344
I wanna try to hook my computer up to my TV, the only problem i have had so far is that i cannot find out how to get the right cords/adapters for this. My graphics card has 2 DVI plugins, both are DVI-I dual link. and it also has 1 HDMI plugin. My TV has a S-Video and the Yellow, red, and white plugins which i believe is called RCA. So really my question is does anyone know of any cords or adapters that can help me hook the computer too the TV? Dosent have to be the audio just the video. Guest MAJ.Spartan-S63=US=
The only feasible adapter would probably be RCA to DVI (and vice versa) and the quality of adapters like that are hit-and-miss because of the way the conversion happens. I've seen DVI to all sorts of different cables so your best bet is to search for DVI to RCA or DVI to S-Video. S-Video usually yields higher picture quality anyhow as well. Guest Krawll
This is exactly what I told him last night. I didnt know if there was a dvi to s.vid though.
Guest RET.SSgt.Haterade=US=
Upgrade to a HD TV and use an hdmi cable. It's what I've done.
Guest RET.CW4.ThievingSix=US=
If you don't have an HDMI port your tv's too old. You can easily buy a new tv for under $100 that supports HD content. Even if you were able to find a RCA to DVI adaptor your not going to get anywhere near enough resolution to game with. Guest RET.Capt.DoggyRanger=US=
Agree with Thieving.. I've become a snob when it comes to video.. I need my monitor to be at least 1600 x 1200 on display.. When I did that with my Non-HDTV Samsung 32 TV... I noticed the difference immediately and went back to my smaller screen.. Guest CC.Decayed=US=
Lol, hate to say this doggy, but 1600x1200 is not a good resolution, so a true snob would not be ok with that. :D That's still 4:3 which is not very good for gaming standards. You want either 16:10 or 16:9 fyi. 16:9 like 1920x1080 16:10 like 1920x1200 or 1680x1050 On topic, as others have said, you should upgrade your monitor. It's gonna look terrible on standard def 4:3 resolution. However, if you do want to give it a shot, http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023504&p_id=3869&seq=1&format=2 this is a good company which I've ordered many cables from. This is the 3 ft version, if you want a bigger one, they have them too.
Guest RET.CW2.POLLVX=US=
Most DVI graphics cards come with a DVI-to-VGA adapter plug. You could then use a VGA-to-Svideo cable. I will tell you right now that the image will be horrendous.

Component RCA is video only via Red, Blue, and Green cables. RCA is Yellow for video, Red and White for audio.

Playing fast moving games like FPS games you shuld have a fast monitor. The fast TV's (between 1 and 2 millisecounds) are realy expensive. The regular TV's (atleast when I checked) had 5-20ms
Guest Ret.Maj.Xander=US=
I have had several media centers over the years and have done everything from HDMI cable to S-Video through an RF Modulator (and yeah it worked ;) ) You could honestly use an RF modulator if you wanted, but not for gaming it would be too slow. I only used it to watch TV/Movies. You will need an HDTV if you want any sort of enjoyment. Many new TV's come with DVI connections instead of RGB(aka PC) connections. Many new video cards have HDMI out but a DVI->HDMI converter is cheap and works great. You probably want to be as cheap as possible, but I want to stress than buying a LED TV is worth it. It uses less energy than some light bulbs and the quality is amazing. Plus the screen life is much longer than a LCD. But you are probably looking cheap so I would suggest: http://www.bestbuy.com http://www.walmart.com http://www.costco.com http://www.tigerdirect.com http://www.newegg.com Happy Hunting.
