Guest Dill Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Very cool, although the concrete on top of the slab is different.
Guest RET.CW4.ThievingSix=US= Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Thanks guys, took ages and alot of angry phone calls with contractors!!
Guest RET.CW4.ThievingSix=US= Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 The party never stops :D. On a side note, i added some special cabling for the internet in my house, check out my speed. i went from 1mb in the old house to just under 70mb in the new one. blew all records in the dust :D
Guest RET.Maj.SKI=US= Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Anybody notice a difference in TS? :-)
Guest Ret.Maj.Xander=US= Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Ur so lucky Thieving, I would have to spend like $5k a month to have a T3 line put in to get speeds somewhat close to that.
Guest MAJ.Kaossilator=US= Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 haha yeah central Illinois isn't too great at that either - I'm shelling $45/mo just for 6 mbps downstream on dsl. :P
Guest RET.SSgt.Haterade=US= Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Very nice. My girlfriend says she wants one. Maybe, after law school, I can sell my services to y'all for a new house. Think about it, you and Qotsa.
Guest RET.CDR.CrAzY_NuTtA=US= Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Man you got an awesome house! Does your new and improved connection mean your pings over there arent as bad on the US servers?
Guest RET.CW4.ThievingSix=US= Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Thanks!, yeah i do get a bit better pings. And the weirdest thing about it is that im still using cat6 cabling but im getting optical cabling speeds.
Guest RET.Maj.SKI=US= Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010
Thanks!, yeah i do get a bit better pings. And the weirdest thing about it is that im still using cat6 cabling but im getting optical cabling speeds.
Now you are just rubbing it in. I have a slow intermittent cable modem. Then I connect to my router with a slow wireless connection. House looks really nice, and I feel your pain with contractors, we had an in-ground pool put in this past summer. No wonder you haven't been as noticeable: building a house, and in your spare time, building your storage cube.
Guest Ret.Maj.Xander=US= Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010
Thanks!, yeah i do get a bit better pings. And the weirdest thing about it is that im still using cat6 cabling but im getting optical cabling speeds.
CAT6 = Gigabit speed which means it can handle almost any internet speed that exists today and then some. They just don't have the range optical cables do, so we can't just have Ethernet wires under the ground everywhere. And I checked with a site, it would cost me around $6k (probably more since i'm in Iowa) a month just to get around 45 Mbits! So consider yourself lucky. The first place I move into after college will be decided by the fastest internet available in that area.
Guest RET.CW4.ThievingSix=US= Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 wow i only pay around $50 a month for my internet :D
Guest MAJ.Kaossilator=US= Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 OK now I'm REALLY feeling jipped in Illinois since you're only paying $5 more than me and i'm stuck at that 6Mbits. Phooey.
Guest RET.CW4.ThievingSix=US= Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Yeah although you guy's get unlimited internet right?, we have to pay for a certain quota after which we get capped(slowed down), So i pay for 30GB peak time and 30GB offpeak time meaning i get 60GB overall for $50
Guest Ret.Maj.Xander=US= Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 My family lives outside chicago and with Comcast my dad gets something close to 20 mbps. But you're right Thieving we don't have caps yet. The big companies like Comcast and Verizon are fighting for it. Vote YES on Net Neutrality!
