Guest SoundOfDeath Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hi, yesterday I was infected with a fake antivirus program that is actually a virus. It is called Antivir Solution Pro. Yesterday I was able to get rid of it using windows defender (I don't know how, I just was). I did a system restore point to a week ago. All seemed like it was good, but today...It's back. I can't get rid of it. Help please. It's locked me out of all of my programs, it says that they are infected with a virus. I can't get to my malware remove program.
Guest Senth Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 did u enter a credit card number or anything? If u did, cancel the CC right away and explain to them there might be false transaction. the program is running in the background crt alt del.. to start task manager go to process tab and look for any strange program running with high amount of memory usage or cpu usage most of the time you will know most of the program that is running by the description but look for something that doesnt look familiar or not right right click the program "open file location" that will see where the file is commin from. once u find the malware file try to disable it by right clicking it from task manager and end process. after the file is disable there might be a chance it will keep popping back up if that keeps happening it will be harder to quarantine the file Download free virus scan from trendmirco.com it called housecall. It is Legit and dont have to worry about malware. It will take long but its free and very up to date. Try these steps first and see what happens.
Guest SoundOfDeath Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 It won't let me get to task manager, and no I didn't enter a credit card.
Guest RET.W01.Wright=US= Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Get with me when I get home from work. I had the same exact thing happen to me with the same program a few weeks ago
Guest Chavez Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 If you have access to another computer with an internet connection, use it to download an antivirus program; if you do not have a paid subscription for your current AV program, you can get a free version of AVG's antivirus software here. You can also find it on CNET, if you prefer. Once you've got your AV setup executable, burn it to a disc or drop it on a USB drive. On your infected computer, boot into Safe Mode (w/o Networking) by pressing F8 during your computer's POST sequence. Once booted into Safe Mode, run the AV setup executable from your disc/USB drive. Once the program is installed, use it to run a thorough scan of all drives, fixed and removable. Let us know how you make out.

Guest RET.Col.TMI=US= Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 now that it works, run malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org
Guest SoundOfDeath Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I already did, I removed all of the infected files.
Guest RET.CPO.Channler=US= Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Sorry man, if your computers infected.. well you know what to do. Shoot her in the head.

So is SUPERAntiSpyware. I have both on both my computers. Remember, you can have more than one malware program but it is recommended you only have one antivirus program. For antivirus, I use Avira. It's free and good; the only thing is that there is a pop-up asking you to buy the professional version every time it updates its definitions. The pop-up isn't obnoxious, though. If it comes back, you can follow the instructions here. It's how I got rid of it. You'll need Malware Bytes though.

Juuuuust a joke.
lol. That's because it's an antivirus, not an antimalware. They're designed to be better at different things. :P
Guest RET.LTG.STORM=US= Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Just A FYI If you dont know what it is dont install it If you dont know what to do Hold the power button until PC shuts off its simple and it works. Sometimes the (x) button to close a program will install it Be careful.
Guest SoundOfDeath Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I never installed it. It wasn't really a program, the "Antivirus" was actually a webpage.
