What do you guys think of this new build?, Is there anything that is way over the top?, Something i could drop out for something of similar performance but cheaper value? Leave some suggestions plz! thanks guys! Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Extreme - $329.00 Intel Core i7-960 - $730.60 OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800- $267.70 Asus Radeon HD 5970 $1,064.10 Western Digital 300GB SATA Velociraptor- $305.90 Corsair Obsidian 800D Black - $400.50 Sound Blaster Fatal1ty Pro - $193.40 Antec 1000w PSU - $291.30 Windows 7 Ultimate - $398.00 Samsung XL2370 - $566.70 Samsung SH-B083A - $129.99 Microsoft Office 2007 - $797.00 Keyboard G19 - $208.50 Total - $5682 Will it all be compatible and fit together? This time i chose to downgrade the CPU to a 960 as alot of people thought the 975 was overkill. Also all prices are in $AUD

Wouldnt bother with W7 Ultimate, and also 300GB HDD is quite small - im guessing thats a Solid State one?

Nope its a normal mechanical disk and theres this offer at the moment where windows 7 ultimate is the same price as professional and so thats why i might get ultimate. I don't think i need more than 300gb at the moment, the current computer i have has a 160GB hard drive and im only using half of that, plus most of my movies are on my external hard drive which is 300Gb and that is only 25% full

Personally, I'd go with the ASUS Xonar Essence STX over the sound blaster. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132010 Also if you're spending that much money, why not go with a PC Power and Cooling PSU? Granted an Antec is excellent, so really, you're good either way. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703013 860 is enough for your system (yours is 728 overall), but wouldn't be enough to crossfire where you'd need a 1200watt (1110 for crossfire, heh). Then again, that's a small clearance on that 1200watt. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703012 Everything else is awesome, I guess the only comment I'd make is that the CPU is overkill and a 920 i7 core overclocked would suffice for 1/3 the price. EDIT: Oh, and the case. Just a personal preference but check out SilverStone cases. I would also recommend the 920 these are just the same cpu's only the clocks are set different, this cpu combined with a good cooler like the scythe mugen will defenitly be able to beat it. SN.daveyY has the 920 oced, he is imo the person to give you the best info. fòr me a 320 gb is enough, 8 weeks of music currently on it, some games and movies, you really have to have much files to get it filled

I got rid of the blueray disc player as i don't think its necessary and added a scythe mugen in its place. Reduced total cost by $20

The problem with this keyboard is, it's just an ordinary keyboard, but it has backlight and a color-screen. Well, really. You don't need a color-LCD on your keyboard. Even a monochrome is pure luxuryFor gaming purposes I could really recommend a Logitech G13. It has the monochrome LCD the G15 has, but the backlight is any color like the G19. Its hard to explain, but its way more ergonomic when playing games. The thumbstick + extra keys are very helpfull aswell. (I use the thumbstick for weapon selection) And do you still need a mouse? I had a Roccat Kone before and got a Logitech G9x now (The kone 'broke down') and this one is amazing. You just need to check the ergonomics.. Different for everyone.

Does 10,000 rpm really make a difference over 7,200 rpm? Windows: I was also thinking i would get it from "other sources" but i decided to go legit and not screw around with the OS Overclocking 920: Could you give me an idea of what kind of cooling i need to overclock a 920, is the scythe mugen enough? and how would i go about overclocking it? Screen: I saw it on a website and it was at a better price than what dell was offering so i decided to go for it, im not really sure what other good options are out there Mouse/Keyboard: I already have an logitech MX revolution and i really like that for keyboard i currently have a standard dell keyboard. I've seen those "shortcut" style keyboards and im not a big fan. I like the g15 and g19 especially since the G19 is pretty much designed for bad company 2 Sound: The reason i chose creative over asus is that i have a creative card now, and the Asus card costs nearly double the creative card

the scythe mugen is defenitly enough it can clock my e8400 form 3gHz to 4,3-4,5 gHz without any heat problems. the g19 offers only some extra fancy colors in your room and a extra row of unreachable g-keys, I had exactly the same doubt as you I went for the g15 and I'M Really happy with it, and the ergonomics are great. my creative x-fi xtreme gamer does its work really good for a great price, maybe you could look at that. As power supply would I prefer a modular one, this saves a lot of cables in your case and your overview is way better (be sure to save your cables though

Samsung f1 500gig plates are the fastest non SSD drives on raid. even faster then Velecoraptor on raid 0. I also have a Vraptor hard drive. and the SSD makes a huge differrnce. OS: get windows 7 Pro version OEM can get it for 120 to 140 920 OCing: I recommend water cooling or corsair h50. Screen just get a lcd with 5ms reponse or 2ms gtg. usually Samsung, Dell are the top but i have a acer, dell, viewsonic. really hard to tell the differnece. dont know where u getting those prices but they are kinda high. i shop at newegg.com, ewiz.com, amazon.com, microcenter.com, buy.com, zipzoomfly.com, tigerdirect.com. also check on Slickdeals.net. a good web site for any kinda deals on the market for anything. I cant use any of those sites since i live in Australia and none of them ship here(amazon doesn't ship parts here), At the moment im probably going to buy from mwave. Heres a revised version of the build, hopefully i will be able to actually buy it in a few months, I've been doing my research and i just realized you had a H50 and i was planning to grab one of those with zalman fans because their black. Motherboard has changed with USB 3.0 support and so has the ram, 5970's have gone down in price so i went the the XFX version. I thought 1000w was overkill so i downgraded that to 850W. As you probably noticed i also got rid of the scythe mugen and replaces it with the H50 and zalman fans. The price is down by $200 GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R - $308.70 Intel Core i7-960 - $758.00 Corsair 6GB Dominator PC3 12800 - $312.70 XFX Radeon HD 5970 - $855.70 Western Digital 300GB SATA Velociraptor - $285.90 Corsair H50 - $119.00 Corsair Obsidian 800D Black - $389.80 Sound Blaster Fatal1ty Pro - $185.90 Corsair HX-850 850W - $260.00 Windows 7 Ultimate - $389 Samsung XL2370 - $529.00 Lite-On IHAS324 - $27.99 Zalman ZM-F3 - $55.00 (5 fans) Keyboard G19 - $189.00 Total = $4667
