I want you guys to help me. I am thinking on buying a new computer built for gaming. I am mainly looking towards the Alienware brand for their ALX system. I want to buy a PRE-BUILT Computer. I don't want to build my own or anyone else to. And for the people that don't like Alienware, the only reason you don't like them is because their overpriced. That is why i am here. To see if you can do some research for me. Here are the specs of the Alienware i want: Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz GPU: (SINGLE) ATI Radeon 5970 2GB GDDR5 RAM: 6GB Triple Channel 1333Mhz DDR3 Harddrive: 1TB RAID 0 SATA-II 7,200 RPM Free things: Alienware TactX Mouse, Keyboard, and headset. High Preformance Liquid Cooling Price:2,649 Here is the question: Can I get a better Gaming Computer for less or the same amount of money? I can afford this Gaming Rig as it is. But i want to see if i can get a better computer for the same or lower then what i am looking to pay for. My budget is Under $3,000.

NO ALIENWARE! Really, don't get yourself an Alienware. The quality is bad (Plastic yay!) and you pay way to much for it. About the pre-built thing. Is it ok if let's say, Newegg builts it for you? (Not sure if they can do that, don't know anything about American e-tailers) You could save yourself a huge amount of money then.

I don't want a computer built from scratch. Because if something goes wrong i have nobody to blame or turn to then myself. I want to rely on one company if something wrong happens to my computer.

1. How much do you want to spent? 2. What are you going to do with your PC? (Gaming, Editing, etc.) 3. Do you want to overclock your PC? 5. Do you want to add another videocard for Crossfire/SLI in a later stage? 6. Do you want an assembled PC? 7. Do you need an operating System? 8. Do you want the operating system pre-installed? 9. Do you need any extra stuff? (Mouse, keyboard, speakers, extra sound card, display, etc.) 10. Did you already think of something or got any preferences. (Case or anything like that) I still could recommend just letting Newegg assembly it for you, they even give you waranty when doing so. So you just can turn to one company when something goes wrong (Newegg)...

If it wasn't built it would be a link to a bunch of parts. That has a little weaker CPU a 860 instead of a 920, but thats not a huge step backwards at all. Also it isn't in a raid array. 16GB of RAM seems like overkill but its 100x better than any Alienware.

What about this model: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113122 Its cheaper then the one above and its not overkill. 8GB of memory is enough. And eveything else is the same.

I bought a gateway gaming computer. Better then the others out there. I build all my comps now but i bought a gateway about 6 years ago because I was having trouble fixing my old comp and needed a quick fix. Bought it for $1100 and my wife is using it today. Everything is still good. All i have had to upgrade is Vid card and 2 extra sticks of ram. Everything else is still in tip top. What is also nice...if you have a problem with your drive and have to wipe it, it comes with the all in one driver. its quick and easy. There are a lot of benefits to getting a pre-made gateway. So don't judge too harshly. I build all my computers but I do not regret buying the gateway. With that said. I have always wanted to buy an alienware but thought the were just tooooooo god damn expensive. but they look cool as ****!.

I'd really suggest building your own computer, or as a compromise there are many companies that will let you select parts and they will build it for you, pre-built computers are way to expensive.

Is it just me or am I unable to find the Assembly options at Newegg? I don't have any experience with the American e-tailers, so I don't know which one is cheap and has good options, and the Newegg site is plain terrible...

I'm really interested in the Gateway right now. The processor isn't that different as Xander said. But The GPU is quiet a step-back. The Memory of RAM is great. But this system is not Liquid Cooled.

Newegg is the BEST, the BEST site for getting computer parts of any kind, HANDS DOWN. They have the cheapest prices for parts and ship faster than any other retailer I've ever bought from. Over the years I've probably spent close to $6,000 on that site in computer parts and accessories. I've never used them to assemble my own computer since its too easy to build it yourself these days. With newer cases the only time you'll need to use a screwdriver is for putting in the mobo, everything else just "fits".

Their prices are great, gotta admit that. Let's blame it on a lack of experience with that site. I'm just used to the Dutch sites. I really don't know where to look on the Newegg site. Filters are everywhere. Combo's flashing around your screen and SUPERTURBOEXTREMEDEALS! cover the first pages..
