Hello all!

I am considering purchasing a new computer. At the moment I'm considering buying one of the following.

http://www.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-x51-r2/pd?oc=dax51r2_bt_s002e&model_id=alienware-x51-r2 $950 CAD

or

http://www.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-x51-r2/pd?oc=dax51r2_bt_s003e&model_id=alienware-x51-r2 $1200 CAD

I would appreciate any thoughts on the computers above, or better alternatives. My budget is $1200 CAD max.

Thanks,

Ron

Yes if you would prefer to build your own. It would be preferred, you can use the old parts and upgrade what you need. So keep the HHD/SSD, CD Rom, PSU, Case ect. Then upgrade your video card, MB, CPU and MEM.

Thank you, SFC and GEN for your replies. I've decided you take your advice and build my own.

Thank you, again!

No problem. I'd compare specs and prices between the pre-built and self-built and see if it's worth it. Building or buying is very much a personal decision and sometimes (because of the deals the OEMs get with Microsoft) it can be slightly cheaper to buy a prebuilt computer because the company that builds the PC gets a Windows license for pennies on the dollar.

Definitely do some research and let us know if you need any help. We're happy to help out.
