Guest MAJ.Kaossilator=US=
.....and if you already have then don't restart. Could be pertinent to some folks here given that AVG is... well... free and quite popular. Latest update for 2011 is causing win7 64-bit users to have to reboot and get an error upon windows starting up again. See THIS ARTICLE to avoid a potential hassle involving repairing Windows or doing manual file clean-up. Guest RET.SSgt.Haterade=US=
Hmm. This sounds like the reason I had to roll back my sister's system configuration earlier today... Thanks.

Guest Ret.Maj.Xander=US=
Microsoft Security Essentials is exactly what I need. Though for those who want to pay for something to make them feel better I would recommend Nod32 and then Kaspersky (although KS has gotten a bit to bloated IMO)

Guest MAJ.Kaossilator=US=
I used Avast! for awhile on my old laptop... not sure why I moved away from it :P it seemed good. Also one of the first free ones to have a "game-mode" afaik. Now a lot of them do, but that was a major selling point.
Guest MAJ.Kaossilator=US=
Latest update from last night is that this is all cleared up. The 3292 build was at fault and they got off their butts and released 3293 straight away. If you didn't already have the problem, you won't at this point if you do auto-updating. Guest gamerk2
AVG is the old Norton: Slow and bug-prone. AVG has REALLY dropped the ball; they USED to have a good product...two or so years ago. MSE is all you really need these days.
