With a little bday money and a newegg gift certificate I'm ready to upgrade a bit. With that I believe my video card is a few years old and can be upgraded. I have a GeForce 9800GTX+ right now, and I'd like to get a sub $200 card that is DX11 compatible and better than my card which is like this one except mines XFX http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339 I'm willing to switch to ATI if the card is good enough, but there seems to be a jump from sub 200 to over 300 priced cards. I've been out of the GFx card game for awhile and i'll take any advice i can get.

look for deals for BC2 it drops in price randomly in stores/steam. and the 5870 is over $100 more than i want to spend.

i think i might get that model but not by that manufacturer, they have a lot of cards with bad reviews. Its just when I compare teh specs of the 5770 to my geforce 9800gtx+ it looks worse. Like why are most cards with 128 or in some cases 192 bit memory interface? My 9800 is 256. Idk i just dont want to downgrade when i think i'm getting a much better/newer card.

the 460 is a nice card. I wish i got that one instead of 2 250s but I like my 250s which i got for 130 each. Very good deal. even though I am using SLI, the 1 460 would come out better performance wise. Just a note. My comp can handle any game i have on Max graphics. But I do have a 3.6 Ghz Proccessor. BC2 is a processor hog.

ATIs run hotter then Nvidia. Having an Nvidia will make you comp over all cooler. Other then that, I just prefer Nvidia over ATI due to the long history of bad GPUs

ATI also has the worlds leading card the 5970 with dual GPU's. But at the end of the day its down to personal preference, at the high end of the market its ATI and the medium end its Nvidia and at the low end their both almost the same.
ATI 5970 is wildly known for big driver issues.
Nobody's perfect :D, the dual GPU's just seem to cause issues because it has to separate load, its almost like having a 6 core processor, at the bleeding edge of technology there is always going to be issues, a lot of things aren't tried and tested yet, but eventually they will be:D

Per all the stats i'm going to get a 5830, as of now I am just going to wait until i get an email with a great deal on one, or just a normal deal. Maybe hopefully one will get a good promo code or discount soon. Possibly even an open box 5850 that drops around $200 would be huge.

They overclock the card without properly keeping it cool 2. There power supply is underpowered for the card 3. There drivers aren't up to date 4. There is a bottle neck at the processor, and there blaming it on the card because they maxed out there settings because they have a 1337 video card. The ATI cards in that price range specifically the 5830 have a faster clock and memory speed then comparable nvidia cards. The sad part is I'm an nvidia fan boy.
