Guest RTL
Gentleman! Please see the below pictures for the one that got away! In this awesome river spot I had an approximate 15-20 lb whitefish (about 20-24inches long) take away from me a 15 dollar Rapella, simple split shot 3g and a invisible counterweight float as well as a t swivel jig with a drop sinker as it pulled my daiwa rod to full convex and then did a jump out of the crystal water and snapped it all off. I thought id share this in a post to show you the great Canadian fishing spots as well as get your feedback on what works best in your areas for trout, pike, walleye or other! http://i.imgur.com/o9DZpp2.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1v4v8qT.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2NkkmdK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4aHA6C7.jpg

Guest xNaruke
I have never been fishing before. I would love to try it out one day soon :-) England's got some great spots as I hear it, so you should hop on over here to expand your fishing expeditions :D
Guest RhinoTech
I'm an amateur fisherman Staff Sergeant, but when I fish at the wharf off the beach boardwalk I use nightcrawlers, grub & worm lures, cut up shrimp/squid/anchovy. Typically I get sanddabs or perch which are often toss backs. I've occasionally been lucky enough to catch a school of fish resulting in several good catches. There's also a lake I just started fishing at with no luck so far. The only thing I've managed to catch was a muscle :/ http://i.imgur.com/inp1lRv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FVSihRJ.jpg

Guest RTL
On this in the new lake if nothing else catches try a salmon roe bait bag with 2 t swivels with a hook on end of each one with mentioned bait bag or even cut bait like minor or shrimp on end. On the end of this rig try a heavy weight to give you your distance as well as it will let the hooks flow freely in water so they dont get tangled on bottom. Nice looking lake there great warf to fish off of as well. If you get clams that big there is something in there worth catching for sure!
Guest RhinoTech
Thanks Petty Officer, I do enjoy my walks around the lake park when not fishing. Makes for a nice date or family outing. Staff Sergeant, they say they stock the lake, and I hope that's the case, but the fish are stubborn. Do you have any links you'd recommend for fishing tips? Also, I forget what weight I use but I'm able to cast about 20 yards away. Anything heavier tends to risk getting snagged on the multitude of rocks on the lake bed. They say catfish are stocked in there, and if so that's what I'd love to catch. Catfish soup is delicious.
Guest xNaruke
@SSgt and LCpl, How long (on average) do you usually wait for your first catch?

Guest RTL
Depends on the day for the first catch wait. This last weekend i had my first rainbow on my first cast others you can go dry for hours. It totally depends on the fishing. Lcpl. This would totally depend on bed, is this a manmade lake completely or just a dammed and filled?
