Guest RET.Maj.ShadowOp=US=
However, VALVE ( A company that has its roots in gaming and usually does its best to work with the consumer) has amazing VR and were planning on working with Oculus. Gabe Newall has said in the past he will not work with facebook. Maybe this means they will roll their own VR or work with another company. Sony just announced their VR headset, and heard it through the grapevine that RAZER might be working on a VR headset.

Guest MAJ.Spartan-S63=US=
I love how the common sentiment is that we're no longer interested in Oculus now that it was purchased by Facebook. I share the sentiment too. Facebook ruins too many good things. That and they're kinda looking desperate to find new revenue streams because they've been on a buying frenzy. But, hopefully Sony, Microsoft, Valve, or Razer come out with good VR competitors. I was considering purchasing a second gen Oculus Rift dev-kit until this announcement. Edit: Actually, now that Facebook has acquired OculusVR, many people are backing away from it. Notch tweeted that he cancelled the Minecraft Oculus deal:
Guest RhinoTech
This is hilariously sad. Funny because FB is desperate, but also funny because this is a stigma they cannot rinse off; however, this is tragic because potentially great products and services are being pulled into the murky depths of hell by facebook's spiraling madness and decay, a terribly tragic taint is being spread. Guest RET.Maj.ShadowOp=US=
Oculus was the front runner in this VR showcase, and in many ways still is probably going to huge. The disappointment is that it was gearing up to be the immersion gamers equivalent nirvana. A die hard group of enthusiasts and engineers working on it. HELL, John Carmack left iD to work with it....fricking John Carmack. Now, the Oculus is likely going to become a platform for social VR (which though isn't terrible, and overall improves the VR zeitgeist) hurts as a gamer to see the front runner and device I've followed so closely get snatched up like that. Hopefully a gamercentric company like valve or razer puts out an amazing piece of hardware to fill the gap.
